Still prepping tonights dinner, just taking a break. My family is coming over so a little more effort going in tonight. Beef fillet with dauphinoise potatoes, roast yams and green beans, followed by feijoa pie with a crumble top and vanilla bean ice cream - anyone want to join in?

I'd like to hear more about these dauphinoise potatoes, I've not heard of them before.

Dauphinoise potatoes is just the french name for a potato gratin using cream as the liquid. All you need to do is peel and slice potatoes into 5mm slices, parboil drain and tip into a shallowish baking dish, the potatoes should mostly fill the dish. sprinkle over 5 cloves of chopped garlic, lots of salt and pepper a sprinkle of grated cheese and then a 300ml bottle of cream. Cover with foil and bake at 150 degrees for 90-120 minutes, uncover for the last 15 mins to brown up. It is one of the most delicious things i've ever eaten!!
